Linz Calling. Kazuko Miyamoto and Austria
Kazuko Miyamoto has been associated with Linz and the local art scene for over 40 years: she first came to the city in 1980 to realize a work by US conceptual artist Sol LeWitt for the Forum Design exhibition. At Stadtwerkstatt Linz in particular, Miyamoto finds colleagues and like-minded people who, like herself, combine life, living and working in art. Her visits to Austria are followed by visits from numerous artists and musicians from Linz to her in New York - a fruitful exchange. In 2008, Miyamoto was a resident at AIR-ARTIST IN RESIDENCE Lower Austria, at the final presentation of which she showed one of her important performances.
This evening is dedicated to Miyamoto's diverse relationships to Austria in projection, sound and words: with a dialogical guided tour by assistant curator Andrea Kopranovic with gallery owner Christian Siekmeier, EXILE and contributions from Stadtwerkstatt Linz and AIR-ARTIST IN RESIDENCE Lower Austria, among others.
