Animation Studio
Action! How is an animated film made? How many individual images are needed to create the illusion of movement? In the workshop, children and teenagers get to know the fascinating medium of animated film and transform their own stories into moving images. In this workshop, participants immerse themselves in the world of animation and film using digital storytelling and stop-motion techniques. The workshop content is tailored to the age of the participants.
The workshop starts with an insight into the beginnings of animation. The historical and theoretical basis forms the foundation for the practical part of the workshop before the participants get creative themselves. In small groups, they work together as a team to develop their own animated films. They use storyboards to structure their ideas and present them visually and dramaturgically. This creative process not only promotes teamwork, but also the ability to communicate their own ideas clearly and precisely.
Once the storyboards have been drafted, it's time for the technical implementation: each group receives an iPad with the Stop Motion Studio app, which they use to create their own short animated film. The participants learn how to move and photograph drawings and objects step by step to generate a fluid animation. They learn about the many possibilities and challenges of cut-out animation and stop-motion techniques.
The workshop not only offers participants the opportunity to work with digital tools and develop their creative skills, it also gives them the chance to slip into the role of filmmakers and bring their own stories to life. After the workshop, the group receives the resulting films via email.
The workshop module is combined with a short museum tour. The guided tour can be chosen flexibly to best suit the group. This ensures that the experience is tailored to the needs and interests of the participants.
