Experience Photography

The children explore the fascinating world of photography. In the exhibition, the children get to know the art of photographer Elfriede Mejchar: photographic documentation of monuments and works of art, plant studies, still lifes and collages. The focus is on getting creative themselves.

Using the old photographic technique of cyanotype, the children learn how light and shadow can be used to create impressive images. This technique enables the children to create their own works of art in a playful and creative way. They place various objects on light-sensitive paper and use sunlight to create fascinating blue prints. They discover how simple everyday objects can be turned into unique works of art using cyanotypes. Inspired by Elfriede Mejchar's collages, the children create their own picture compositions on top. The children's creativity is encouraged and their curiosity for the artistic possibilities of photography is awakened.

This workshop can only be booked during the duration of the exhibition "Elfriede Mejchar" (13.04.2024-16.02.2025) at the Landesgalerie Niederösterreich and cannot be combined with other workshop modules.
