On the road in the World Heritage Site

The Wachau has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site for 25 years. What makes this region so special? Why has it inspired artists for centuries?

In the exhibition On the Way through the Collection, young people explore different artistic perspectives on the Wachau. They discover how the region was portrayed 100 years ago, learn about artistic styles and discuss the role that artists played in the discovery and development of this unique cultural heritage.

During the 90-minute guided tour, the young people design their own digital picture collage with the Book Creator app in the creative section. They combine historical and contemporary elements and delve deeper into the content of the old illustrations. By adding colors, shapes and photographic elements, personal perspectives are incorporated and images with their own narratives are created.
