Critical illustration of travel impressions
Wolfgang Ammer's artworks are illustrated travel notes. For decades on the move, the native Upper Austrian studied political incidents, which he carefully researched and then incorporated into his caricatures, which are characterized by a critical and profound look. His artworks are presented in the Wiener Zeitung newspaper (until 2023). Internationally, his work has appeared in the New York Times, the Asahi Evening News (Tokyo) and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) newspapers.
Original pieces with topics ranging from the EU to world affairs
The exhibited caricatures provide insights into Wolfgang Ammer's global vision: one piece hints at Brexit as it displays Boris Johnson performing a spirited kick. Another, features Joe Biden and Xi Jinping on a football pitch wrestling for the world. Wolfgang Ammer's work will not only produce laughs, but also a deeper engagement with the subject matter.
