Born in Madrid in 1973, Abraham Gragera spent his childhood and adolescence in Extremadura, in the southwest of Spain. After studying Psychology, Philology and Fine Arts in Salamanca and, later, Humanities at the University of Cordoba, he founded and edits the poetry magazine Años Diez. He published several poetry collections, including "O Futuro," which won the Premio de la Crítica de Madrid in 2017 and the "Best Book of the Year" Prize, awarded by the Booksellers' Guild. In addition, he worked as a reader at the Spanish publishing house Pre-Textos and as stage director and playwright in the contemporary theatre and dance company La Phármaco. Abraham Gragera combines these activities with his work as a translator of poetry and prose by Emily Dickinson, Louise Glück, W. S. Merwin, S. J. Lec, Pascal Quignard or Anna Swir. In 2022, an anthology of his work in German translation, Die weniger einsame Zeit, appeared in the prestigious Edition Lyrik Kabinett (Carl Hanser Verlag), edited by Piero Salabè. In 2023, he was a candidate for the renowned Zbigniew Herbert International Poetry Prize.
