Deva Schubert
Silent Spills II
Deva Schubert is a Berlin-based choreographer and dancer whose work is particularly dedicated to exploring the voice. She studied dance in Salzburg, Kassel, Copenhagen and Berlin as well as fine arts in Kassel. Her works, which combine dance, installation and digital media, focus on intimacy, collectivity and transdisciplinary synergies. They have been shown at the Haus der Kunst Munich, the Kunsthalle Zurich and the Sophiensaele Berlin, among others. Their piece Glitch Choir received the ImPulsTanz - Young Choreographers' Award in 2024.
Silent Spills II is an intimate exploration of the porosity of the female body, whose leaks allow sounds and fluids to escape. These leaks tell stories that are often censored. What happens when women penetrate the public space with their voices and memories? Deva Schubert's choreography combines body and sound, creating resonant spaces of micro-intimacy that are constantly changing. The Silent Spills are whispering protests that subvert subtle resistances and hierarchies.
Silent Spills II is a co-production of donaufestival and Kunstraum Niederoesterreich.
