Workshop

In the workshop with artist Regula Dettwiler, you will experience first-hand the pressing and preservation of plants. You will have the opportunity to talk to the artist about her art project "Herbarium of Emotions". You will learn about the significance of your own plant and its history for the project.

In 2025, the Landesgalerie Niederösterreich presents an exhibition project that focuses on visitor participation. The artist Regula Dettwiler needs pressed plants that are connected to personal memories. This workshop is for anyone who would like to press their own plant under the artist's guidance!

The plants pressed in the workshops will then be prepared by the artist in her studio on sheets of paper like a herbarium. A herbarium is a collection of plants preserved for scientific purposes, with information about the place, date, and collector. The resulting "Herbarium of Emotions" will be exhibited at the Landesgalerie Niederösterreich in 2025. After the exhibition, participants will have the opportunity to pick up the herbarium specimen with their plant. Please bring with you to the workshop:
A plant that has a special meaning to you. This could be a vine leaf from an autumn walk with your loved ones or a flower from your birthday bouquet. Please be aware of species and plant protection laws. There is no limit to the size of the plant - larger plants will be divided. Thick stems and fleshy plants should be avoided or heavily pruned as they are difficult to press.
