On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the TV series "The Simpsons", the Karikaturmuseum Krems is showing the private collection of William Heeter and Kristi Correa for the first time in Europe. Over 150 cels, storyboards and production slides from the first thirteen seasons invite you into the satirical "Simpsons" universe and provide fascinating insights into one of the oldest forms of animation.

A Global Success

"The Simpsons" are known for their abysmal humor and unsparing view of Western society. In 1989, the first episode with chaotic father Homer, mother Marge, snotty Bart, nerdy Lisa and eternally pacifier-sucking Maggie was broadcast on US television. To date, 35 seasons with over 760 episodes have been produced. "The Simpsons" is the longest-running US TV series and holds the world record for guest appearances in a TV series.

The Springfield Universe Visits Krems

With over 150 hand-drawn pictures and cels from the first 13 seasons - after which the TV series was produced entirely digitally - the exhibition takes you on a journey through the adventures and pranks of the Simpson family. The couch gags are an integral part of the opening sequence of the series. Homer, Marge, Lisa, Bart and Maggie as skeletons, with pacifiers in their mouths or the Simpsons shrunken on the sofa can be seen in the exhibition. The cartoons about the three-eyed fish Blinky or Homer's dreams about toilets will make you smile. There are also cartoons featuring Mr. Burns, Homer's boss and owner of the town's nuclear power station, Bart's best friend Milhouse and other well-known characters from the fictional town of Springfield. Storyboards and sketches give you exciting insights into the characters as well as the art and process of animation. Fun facts and photo points make for a unique "Simpsons" experience at the Karikaturmuseum Krems.
