In 2025 the Kunsthalle Krems will celebrate its 30th anniversary! With its opening in spring 1995, the foundation stone was laid for the Kunstmeile Krems as a competence center for the visual arts in Lower Austria. An ambitious program set new standards in the former tobacco factory. Architect Adolf Krischanitz created the best conditions for a modern exhibition space while preserving the former industrial character.
Today, the Kunsthalle Krems is the first address for international contemporary art in Lower Austria. In exchange with artists, exhibitions are created that progressively reflect socially relevant themes. Thanks to important collaborations, the Kunsthalle Krems often presents important positions in contemporary art for the first time in the German-speaking world. The themes of diversity, gender and feminism are of particular importance.
