MY MUSEUM - Young People Help Shape the Museum
Die Landesgalerie Niederösterreich lädt seit 2019 mit der Projektreihe „My Museum“ junge Menschen dazu ein, das Museum aktiv mitzugestalten und ihre Kreativität einzubringen.MY MUSEUM - Young People Help Shape the Museum
Since 2019, the Landesgalerie Niederösterreich has been inviting young people to actively shape the museum and contribute their creativity with the "My Museum" project series.
The students of the Volksschule Lengenfeld created animated films that can be seen in the "On the Road. A Journey Into the Collection" exhibition. The children were inspired by works of art in the exhibition, particularly Biedermeier and Impressionist paintings. In a playful way, they breathed new life into the paintings of the State Collections of Lower Austria. For example, in Maria Egner's picturesque painting, the almond blossom tree is now populated by colorful birds.
Since the opening of the Landesgalerie Niederösterreich in 2019, "My Museum" has been all about participation. With this series, the museum offers young people in particular the opportunity to experience art in a new way and to participate in the exhibitions. The first project was dedicated to architecture. Participants designed a cardboard model of the museum, named after Bernhard Marte of the architectural duo marte.marte. 234 colorful Bernhards were presented in an exhibition as part of the pre-opening of the Landesgalerie. In 2024, 145 students from five schools in Krems participated in "My Museum". Children and young people from the Volksschule Stein, the Volksschule Lerchenfeld, the HLM HLW Krems, the HLF and the BRG Ringstraße enriched the exhibition rooms of the Landesgalerie Niederösterreich with their ideas and works. In performances, photographs and collages, they explored the exhibitions and the architecture of the museum.
With "My Museum", the Landesgalerie shows that it is a living, open place for everyone.
